Clarity Starts With Conversation

(Helping a B2B start-up shape early marketing strategy)

The Situation

A B2B AI SaaS startup was developing a new product and needed help exploring product–market fit and building the early stages of their marketing funnel.

The Challenge

The founder reached out with a simple question:

“Do you help build or design marketing funnels? I’m working on a new product and trying to figure out product–market fit.”

It wasn’t a formal engagement—just a strategic conversation that gradually deepened. Different industries, different language, different starting points—but plenty of potential.

The Approach

These are often my favorite projects:
Casual conversations that, through mutual curiosity and trust, evolve into meaningful strategic work.

Through open-ended questions and active listening, we built shared understanding around:

  • Positioning the product in a crowded market

  • Identifying friction points in the buyer journey

  • Designing a lightweight upper-funnel strategy to engage early adopters

My enterprise martech background offered contrast to the founder’s startup lens—and helped us uncover real differences in buyer expectations, team capacity, and onboarding needs.

The Results

Together, we outlined:

  • Practical ways to test product–market fit

  • A simple funnel structure to support early growth

  • Clearer messaging for early adopters

✅ Outcome: No formal deliverable—just valuable clarity that helped the founder sharpen direction and spot opportunities.

Key takeaway: A good conversation can be the most useful deliverable of all. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can offer is a clear mirror.
